Marriage was violently imposed upon this 12 year old girl to a 22 year old man. She was robbed of her dream to go to school and stripped of all hope in life.
Through social intervention, education, love and care you can help us to restore her dignity and give her a normal life.
India's children are our future. We believe that we are called to fight abject poverty in our country. We help by bringing light and life to people and show that we care for them. The Child Care Ministry is one of the projects of SISWA MISSION CHARITABLE TRUST.
The children in this picture are from a tribal village in Rayagada District of Orissa State. As you know Orissa is one of the poorest states in India. When our missionaries reached this village to proclaim the Gospel of Love, they saw the pathetic condition of these children and brought them to our Children's home.
About the Village: The village is located at the top of a hill surrounded by jungles. There are no basic facilities like water, electricity, medicines and transport. The women in this village have to walk down the hill to bring water for their family. Can you believe that this girl with the baby is a mother of two children? Yes, she was forced to marry at the age of 12 and now she is only 16. By the time a girl reaches the age of 18, she would become a mother of 4 to 5 children. They don't know what school is all about. The boys in the village spend their time herding cattle and have no opportunity to learn any basic skills.
