India's children are our future. We believe that we are called to fight abject poverty in our country. We help by bringing light and life to people and show that we care for them. The Child Care Ministry is one of the projects of SISWA MISSION CHARITABLE TRUST.
The children in this picture are from a tribal village in Rayagada District of Orissa State. As you know Orissa is one of the poorest states in India. When our missionaries reached this village to proclaim the Gospel of Love, they saw the pathetic condition of these children and brought them to our Children's home

About the Village: The village is located at the top of a hill surrounded by jungles. There are no basic facilities like water, electricity, medicines and transport. The women in this village have to walk down the hill to bring water for their family. Can you believe that this girl with the baby is a mother of two children? Yes, she was forced to marry at the age of 12 and now she is only 16. By the time a girl reaches the age of 18, she would become a mother of 4 to 5 children. They don't know what school is all about. The boys in the village spend their time herding cattle and have no opportunity to learn any basic skills.

At present we run a Children's Home in our Prayer Center at Anna Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Since the Children's Home is in the Prayer Center, we don't have enough space to take in more children. There are thousands of children living in the tribal villages. In order to take in more children, we are praying and planning to construct a building that will be specifically designated for this purpose. The children are sent to a closely located private English Medium School. At the Children's home they are provided with a well balanced diet, clothing, school uniforms including shoes, special educational, medical care, spiritual nurture and opportunities for occasional field trips. Moral instructions, physical exercises and games is now a regular part of their daily lives. As of July 2004 we have fifty children in our Home.

Almost all these children, come from broken homes of the above stated tribal village of Orissa. Society shuts all decent doors to them and thus they are forced to live in the remote village itself. If these children are not cared for, they will become morally and spiritually bankrupt and destitute.
At the SISWA CHILDREN'S HOME, we provide physical, intellectual and emotional care, thereby helping them to aim for a bright future in life. Our goal for these unreached, rejected and unloved tribal children is for them to gain self esteem and find a meaningful place in society. We direct our efforts toward this goal. We invite you to participate in the true riches of these beautiful children. Together, we can make a difference!
